The short version. We collect the details you give us when you enquire, book an appointment, or become a customer, plus measurements when we are fitting you and CCTV footage while you are in the shop. We use it to answer you, to look after your appointment and your outfit, to take payment, and to keep the shop secure. We do not sell it, and we do not send marketing unless you have asked us to. Our website sets no cookies and there is no cookie banner. You can ask us for a copy of your information, or ask us to delete it, at any time.
Who we are
Isobels Bridal & Groom is the trading name of Isobels Bridal and Groom Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 08176114. Our registered office and our shop are both at 453 Ashley Road, Poole, Dorset, BH14 0AX.
We are the data controller for the personal information described in this notice, which means we decide what is collected and why. You can reach us at [email protected], on 01202 721821, or write to us at 453 Ashley Road, Poole, Dorset, BH14 0AX.
What information we collect
When you enquire through our website
Our contact form asks for your name, email address, phone number, your wedding date, the type of appointment you are interested in, and whatever you write in the message box.
When you request an appointment
The first step of our booking page asks for your name, email address, phone number and the type of enquiry. Once you have sent that, we show you a booking form provided by BridalLive, our appointment and customer records system. Anything you enter into that form, such as your preferred dates and times, goes directly to BridalLive rather than through our website. See "Who we share it with" below.
When you use our men's sizing form
This form asks for the party name (which wedding or event group you are part of), your name as the wearer, the function date, your email address and phone number, and your own measurements: chest, waist, inside leg, jean size and height, plus any comments you add.
These are body measurements taken so that we can fit and order menswear correctly. They are not health information and we do not treat them as such, but we recognise they are personal, and we keep them with the same care as everything else. If you are filling the form in on behalf of someone else in your party, please pass this notice on to them so they know we hold their details.
When you become a customer
If you book an appointment, place an order or hire an outfit, we hold your contact details, appointment history and notes, measurements and fitting notes, the details of your order, alterations and collection, your purchase and payment history, and our correspondence with you.
When you visit the shop
We operate CCTV on the premises. See the CCTV section below.
When you browse the website
We use Umami, a privacy-first analytics tool, to see which pages are viewed and roughly which country a visit came from. It is cookieless, it does not follow you between websites, and it does not collect anything that identifies you. It is not personal data about you, and it is the reason our site has no cookie banner. Our Cookie Policy covers this in full.
Where we get it from
Almost always directly from you, whether that is in the shop, over the phone, by email, or through a form on this website. Occasionally someone else in a wedding party may pass us your name and contact details so we can arrange a fitting. If that happens and you would rather we did not hold them, tell us and we will remove them.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
Under UK data protection law we have to have a valid reason, called a "lawful basis", for everything we do with your information. Ours are set out below.
| What we do | Our lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Answer your enquiry and tell you about appointments, prices and availability | Taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us |
| Book, confirm, remind and manage your appointment | Performance of our contract with you, or steps taken at your request before entering into it |
| Take your measurements, order your garment, arrange alterations and fit your outfit | Performance of our contract with you |
| Take payment, manage hire deposits and returns, and keep accounting records | Performance of our contract with you, and our legal obligation to keep tax and accounting records |
| Operate CCTV to protect stock, the premises, our staff and our customers | Our legitimate interest in the security of the shop and the safety of the people in it |
| Understand how the website is used so we can improve it | Our legitimate interest in improving the site. Our analytics are cookieless and anonymous, so this involves no personal data about you |
| Deal with complaints, disputes, insurance and legal claims | Our legitimate interest in defending our position, and our legal obligations |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered whether our interest is outweighed by your rights, and we think it is not. You can object to any of it, and we will look at it again. See "Your rights" below.
Health and other sensitive information
We do not ask for information about your health, and you do not need to give us any. Measurements are not health information.
Sometimes a customer chooses to tell us something personal so that we can look after them properly at a fitting, for example a pregnancy, a mobility need, a recent operation or an allergy to a fabric. If you tell us something like that, we will only use it to make your appointment work for you, we will only note what we actually need, and we will delete it once it is no longer relevant. Our lawful basis for holding it is your explicit consent, and you can withdraw that at any time.
CCTV in the shop
We use CCTV inside and immediately outside the shop to protect our stock and premises and to keep our staff and customers safe. Clearly visible signs tell you when you are in a recorded area, who operates the cameras, and how to contact us about them.
- Where the cameras are. They cover the shop floor, the entrance and our stock areas. No camera records a fitting room, a changing area or the alterations room.
- Who can see the footage. Access is limited to the business owners and to authorised staff who need it. We do not put footage online, and we do not share it for any purpose other than those below.
- How long we keep it. About a month. The recorder holds roughly 30 days of footage and then overwrites the oldest automatically, unless something is being kept for a specific incident.
- When we share it. Only with the police, our insurers or our legal advisers where there has been an incident, or where we are required to by law.
You have the right to ask for a copy of CCTV footage of yourself. Please ask as soon as you can, because footage is overwritten on the cycle above, and tell us the date, the time and roughly where you were so we can find it.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we never will. We share it only with organisations that help us run the shop and the website, and only for the purposes described here. They act on our instructions and cannot use your information for their own purposes.

Information sent outside the UK
Some of the organisations above are based outside the United Kingdom, most importantly BridalLive, which holds our customer records and is based in the United States. When personal information goes outside the UK, the law requires appropriate safeguards to be in place so that it keeps essentially the same protection it has here.
Where we use a supplier based outside the UK, we require them by contract to protect your information to the standard UK law demands, and we rely on the transfer safeguards that UK law recognises for that purpose. BridalLive has also appointed VeraSafe as its representative in the United Kingdom under Article 27 of the UK GDPR.
If you would like to know which safeguard applies to a particular transfer, or to see a copy of it, please contact us using the details below and we will provide it.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we actually need it, then delete it.
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Website enquiries that do not lead to an appointment or an order | 12 months from your last contact with us |
| Appointment and customer records, including measurements and fitting notes | 7 years after your wedding or your last order, so that we can deal with any later question, alteration or claim |
| Order, payment and accounting records | 6 years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as required for tax purposes |
| CCTV footage | About a month. The recorder holds roughly 30 days of footage, then overwrites the oldest automatically, unless it is being kept for a specific incident |
| Marketing lists | We do not keep any. We do not send marketing |
| Health or accessibility details you have chosen to share | Deleted once your appointments and fittings are finished |
Marketing
We do not send marketing emails or texts. If you contact us or book an appointment, we will reply about that and nothing else. You will not be added to a mailing list.
If that ever changes we will ask you to opt in first rather than assuming, and every message will carry a one-click unsubscribe. Asking us to stop marketing would never affect the messages we need to send you about an appointment or an order you already have with us.
Keeping it safe
This website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and our forms are protected against automated abuse. Access to our customer records is limited to the people who need it to do their job, and is protected by individual accounts and passwords. Our suppliers are chosen on the basis that they can keep information secure, and are bound by contract to do so. If there is ever a breach that puts your rights at risk, we will tell you and the ICO as the law requires.
Children
Our services are aimed at adults. We do sometimes hold the name and measurements of a child who is a page boy, flower girl or junior member of a wedding party. Where we do, we take those details from the child's parent or guardian, we hold only what we need to fit the outfit, and we delete them on the same basis as everything else in the wedding record.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Be told what we hold about you and what we do with it, which is what this notice is for.
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, including CCTV footage of yourself.
- Have it corrected if it is wrong or incomplete.
- Have it deleted, where we no longer need it and there is no legal reason for us to keep it.
- Ask us to pause using it while a question about it is sorted out.
- Object to us using it where our basis is legitimate interests, including our CCTV.
- Object to direct marketing at any time. This one is absolute: if you tell us to stop, we stop.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is what we relied on.
- Receive it in a portable format, or have it sent to another organisation, where it was given to us and is handled electronically.
To use any of these, just contact us using the details at the top or bottom of this page. We will respond within one month. It costs you nothing. We may need to check who you are first, so that we do not give your information to someone else.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first and we will do our best to put it right. Email [email protected], call 01202 721821, or write to us at 453 Ashley Road, Poole, Dorset, BH14 0AX, and we will respond within 30 days.

Cookies
This website sets no cookies while you browse it, and there is no cookie banner because none is needed. There is one narrow exception, on the booking form only, which is explained in full in our Cookie Policy.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time, for example if we start using a new supplier or offering a new service. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change, we will make that clear on the website.
